We welcome Ayurvedic practitioner Laura Enseki of Femme Ayurveda to our nursing circle!

What is Ayurveda? Ayurveda is known as the "Science of Life." Originating over 3,000 years ago in India, its scientific background remains valid even in modern times and has proven instrumental in helping people live a healthy and peaceful life. Ayurveda believes that the body contains three forces that balance the body, these are known in Ayurvedic medicine as doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. There are ten "doshic" combinations, with one or more doshas having a stronger influence over the other.

The well-being of birthing individuals is at the heart of this centuries-old practice. Ayurveda offers a holistic set of guidelines on caring for new parents and restoring the delicate balance of energies within the postpartum body. Laura will offer some helpful information and tips for adjusting to the postpartum period and nursing journey.

Our nursing circles welcome families of all stripes with nurslings of all ages, bottle and/or breastfed. Come with nursing-related questions, concerns or curiosities — or come simply to commune. Light refreshments and calm, posi vibes will be provided.

The circle will be held in the Children's Room at the Rockport Public Library. Email natureshandmaine@gmail.com for more information.
